Mirza Hasecic broke a scoreless tie late in the contest to power the third-ranked Maryville men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Rockhurst Friday evening at Bourke Field in Kansas City, Mo. The victory was the first time that the Saints have defeated the Hawks on the road in program history.
What Happened – Despite out-shooting the Hawks 5-1 in the first half, the Saints could not find the net as the two teams were scoreless after the first 45 minutes. The score remained tied until the 82
nd minute as Hasecic found the back of the net on a shot from 30-yards out to put the Saints ahead 1-0. The Hawks had numerous chances in the latter stages of the contest but could not score as the Saints held on for the victory.
Inside the Numbers – The Saints outshot Rockhurst 9-7 in the contest while holding a 2-1 edge in shots on frame.
Liam Walraven had a save in earning his fifth consecutive clean sheet on the season.
