Cassidy Arndt hit .323 with 15 kills but Maryville volleyball lost a three-set decision to Missouri S&T Tuesday evening. The Miners won by set scores of 25-19, 25-14, 25-23. The Saints had their best hitting percentage of the night in the third set and outhit the visitors .367 to .326 but could not force a fourth set.
What Happened
The Saints held the early advantage and were up 11-8 after a Missouri S&T error. The Miners rallied to take five of the next six points and stayed ahead to take the first set. The second set was tied at 8-8 but the visitors scored five straight. Arndt had a kill to help the Saints stem the tide but Maryville never got closer than four points. Faith Ahlhardt pushed the Saints ahead by two. Missouri S&T answered with a 3-0 run. The teams traded points until the Miners went up 22-19. The Saints responded with four straight. Arndt sandwiched kills around one by Ahlardt. A Miner error put Maryville ahead 23-22. However, Missouri S&T tallied the final three points to take the match.
