Dom Riggio scored off a corner kick late in the first overtime to propel the 24
th-ranked Maryville men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Southern Indiana Friday evening at Strassweg Field in Evansville, Ind. The win is the first time that the Saints have won on the road in Evansville in program history.
What Happened – The Screaming Eagles opened the scoring in the 35
th minute to take a 1-0 lead over the Saints.
Cameron Paton drew the match even in the 44
th minute as he scored off a rebound to make the score 1-1.
Grady Schliepsiek was credited with the assist after delivering a crossing pass to Paton that led to the goal. The score remained tied until the 98
th minute as Riggio took a corner kick from
Zulfikar Karimi and placed a header into the right corner of the goal to give Maryville the victory.
Inside the Numbers – The Screaming Eagles held a 15-14 advantage in shots, but the Saints had a 7-4 edge in shots on frame. Riggio paced the Maryville attack with four shots while
Eyob Tadesse added three shots on the night.
