Amanda Kaltwasser scored with just under two minutes remaining in regulation to push the Maryville women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Southern Indiana Friday evening at Strassweg Field in Evansville, Ind. The victory for the Saints was its first win on the road at Southern Indiana in program history.
What Happened – The Saints cracked the scoreboard first as
Madison Schmied took a cross from Kaltwasser and placed a header into the left side of the goal in the 25
th minute to give Maryville a 1-0 lead. Southern Indiana did not wait long to tie the match as they scored just two minutes later to draw the match even at 1-1. The score remained tied until the 89
th minute as Kaltwasser played a pass from
Alex Johnson and slid a shot past the Screaming Eagles keeper from three yards out to put Maryville on top 2-1.
Inside the Numbers – Southern Indiana doubled up the Saints in both shots (18-9) and shots on goal (8-4) in the match.
Elyse Waterhouse made a season-high seven saves to earn her seventh win of the season.
