Box Score Lebanon, Ill. – After the Maryville women's soccer team took an early lead, McKendree scored two unanswered goals to defeat the Saints 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Leemon Field in Lebanon, Ill.
What Happened – Kristen Sparks opened the scoring for the Saints as she collected a pass from
Amanda Kaltwasser and scored from seven yards out in the sixth minute to put Maryvile ahead 1-0. The Bearcats evened the match with a goal in the 33
rd minute to make the score 1-1. The game turned into a defensive battle in the second half until McKendree broke through with the game winner in the 82
nd minute to take a 2-1 advantage.
Inside the Numbers – The Bearcats held an 11-4 advantage in shots with eight of those being on frame. The goal for Sparks was her fifth of the year.
Elyse Waterhouse was credited with six saves on the afternoon in the loss.
