Northwest Missouri State recap
Abby Monis had a career-high 25 points and recorded her third career double-double to power the Maryville women's team to a 68-57 victory at Northwest Missouri State. Monis hauled down 10 rebounds, while
Mary Barton was close to a triple-double with 21 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.
Taylor Kirby set a new career best with 10 rebounds.

What Happened
The hosts scored on the first possession of the game but the Saints tallied the next seven to take a lead they would not surrender the rest of the way. Monis scored inside, and Barton drilled a 3-pointer. Monis scored in the lane for the 7-2 lead. Up 14-12, Barton scored five-in-a-row for a 19-12 lead after the first quarter. Leading by six, Monis tallied five points in a 7-0 run as the Saints charged to a 28-15 lead midway through the second. The Bearcats made a small run but a Monis layup in the final minute built a 37-24 lead at halftime.

Monis took control with two buckets to start the third quarter as Maryville built its biggest lead of the night at 41-24. The Bearcats made small runs but the Saints kept a double-digit lead the entire third quarter. Northwest Missouri opened the fourth with a basket to pull to within 50-41 but the Saints had the response. Barton hit a jumper and added a free throw. Monis had a hoop and a triple by Barton pushed the edge back to 58-41 with 6:34 to play. Maryville led by at least 11 points the remainder of the game.

The Maryville defense held the Bearcats to just 29 percent shooting. Northwest Missouri State only made seven two-point field goals in the game. Monis shot 12-of-19 from the field, while Barton drained four 3-pointers.
