Barton Pours in 25 Points as Saints Down Davenport 73-56

Mary Barton poured in a career-high 25 points to rally the Maryville women's basketball team to a 73-56 victory over Davenport. The Saints outscored the visitors 28-9 in the final quarter to win their season-opening contest.
 
What Happened
The Saints grabbed a 14-10 edge after the first quarter. However, Davenport had edged in front by the start of the fourth, 47-45. Barton drilled back-to-back long 3-pointers to push the Saints ahead 51-47. Jayda Jansen scored in the paint, and a Barton bucket closed a 10-0 run for a 55-47 lead at the 7:10 mark.
 
Davenport finally scored and got as close as 57-53 midway through the final quarter. Jansen splashed a triple, and Taylor Kirby powered inside for a bucket. Hunter Stidham drained a wing 3-pointer, and Barton's short jumper was good for a 67-52 lead. The Maryville margin grew to as many as 19 points as the Saints capped off the rally in the final 10 minutes. The Saints defense held Davenport to just 2-of-16 shooting, while Maryville made four 3-pointers in the final stanza. Barton hit all six free throws en route to surpassing her previous career best. Three different Saints grabbed nine rebounds as Maryville outrebounded Davenport 53-40.
