Grand Valley State recap
The Maryville women's basketball team was looking to build a two-game winning streak to start the season. However, Grand Valley State proved worthy of its No. 3 ranking and shot past the Saints 94-50 Saturday afternoon in Moloney Arena.
Abby Monis and
Mary Barton led Maryville with 11 points apiece.

What Happened
The Lakers seized the early momentum with an opening burst to force a time out.
Jayda Jansen scored Maryville's first points of the game on a short jumper.
Karlee Feldman sank two free throws, and
Mary Barton drained a 3-pointer. Grand Valley shot a sparkling 73.7 percent in the first quarter to grab a 36-13 lead and were up 57-22 at halftime.

The Saints had their best shooting performance in the third quarte. Jansen scored inside, and
Abby Monis hit a jumper. After a wing jumper by
Hunter Stidham before Monis drilled her first career 3-pointer from the left wing to cap a 9-0 run. Maryville could not trim the deficit to less than 30 as the Lakers stayed unbeaten. The Saints had the edge in turnovers forced GVSU into 17 miscues.
