Southern Indiana Recap
In its final road match of the season,
Cassidy Arndt had a double-double with 16 kills and 12 digs but the Maryville volleyball team lost at Southern Indiana. The Screaming Eagles prevailed 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 25-13.
Kayla Buxton handed out 23 assists, while
A.J. Hallemann came up with 21 digs.

What Happened
Elizabeth Eardly notched a kill to start a quick 3-0 burst. After a block by
Cassidy Arndt and
Taylor Schellert, a USI hitting error pushed the Saints ahead 4-1.
Mikaela Kues' kill put Maryville up 5-2 but the Screaming Eagles tied the set. The match was tied four more times until USI scored three straight to edge in front. Maryville used two blocks and two aces by Eardly to close to 23-20 but USI held on.

In the second set, the Saints were down 4-1 but surged ahead with four consecutive points. Scheller had a kill, and
Faith Ahlhardt notched back-to-back kills. Arndt tipped in a point for a 5-4 edge. The set was close as neither team led by more than two points. Down 20-19, the Saints had three consecutive blocks with Eardly having a hand in each for a 22-20 advantage. USI committed a hitting error as Maryville's margin grew to 23-20. The teams traded points but Arndt pounded down a kill for a 25-22 win to tie the match.

Set three was close until the Saints scored three straight for a 12-9 advantage. USI eventually tied the set and the score was still 18-18 before consecutive kills by Kues and Arndt. The Screaming Eagles answered with five straight points and just stayed ahead of the Saints. In set three, USI took a small lead before an Eardly kill cut the Maryville deficit to 10-9. However, the hosts scored four straight and used a big spree to close the contest.
