The Maryville women's basketball team was looking for its second win over a ranked opponent this season as the Saints played at No. 16 Lewis. However, All-American candidate Jessica Kelliher poured in 42 points and had 17 rebounds as the Flyers proved worthy of their ranking to down the Saints 86-67.
Abby Monis had her best scoring output in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game as she finished with 18 points on 9-of-13 shooting and added seven rebounds.

What Happened
Lewis took a double-digit lead before a 3-pointer by Barton and a Monis layup pulled the Saints to 21-15. The Flyers scored a bucket but Jansen drilled a 3-pointer late in the first quarter to bring the Saints back to 23-18. Lewis pushed the lead back to double figures but Maryville rallied again. Down 34-21,
Kayla Steward sank two free throws to start a 7-0 burst. Barton scored on a layup, and
Hunter Stidham's 3-pointer brought the Saints to 34-28 with 4:52 to play in the half. A
UU Longs layup kept the score at 40-35 but Lewis took a 47-37 lead at halftime.

The Saints stayed within striking range in the third quarter when Jansen's 3-point play cut the Lewis lead to 57-47. However, the Flyers scored 10 of the final 14 points to stretch their lead out to 67-51. The Saints got as close as 73-57 with under eight minutes to play after an
Erin Lenahan 3-pointer but could not cut into the lead any further. Barton and Jansen both finished with 10 points apiece.
