Zach Colletta matched his season high with 20 points but the Maryville men's basketball team was edged late by Missouri S&T 76-70 Thursday evening. Colletta excelled at the line hitting 11-of-12 at the stripe.
Eugene Jones finished with 14 points, while
Bobby Harvey added 11 points, and the duo both grabbed seven rebounds apiece.

What Happened
The Miners held a small margin for most of the first half before the Saints rallied to tie the game at 31-all at the break. Colletta sank a jumper for a 35-34 lead, followed by a
Casey Teson jumper. Colletta completed a three-point play to give the Saints a 40-34 lead. Maryville still led 43-39 at the 15:01 following a 3-pointer by
Dezmond McDaniel. However, the Miners scored nine straight to jump ahead. The visitors took their biggest lead of the night and were still ahead 68-59 before the Saints made a late push.

Colletta drove the lane for a basket and sank the free throw. The Miners made one free throw, and Colletta converted two more at the line. McDaniel drove in for a layup as the Saints pulled to within 69-66 with 2:27 to play. Missouri S&T made one free throw on consecutive possessions before Colletta sank one at the line to bring the Saints to 71-67 with 1:13 to play. The Miners were up 73-67 until
Chaz Glotta drilled a long 3-pointer from the top of the key to pull the Saints back to 73-70 with 34 seconds left. Maryville put the Miners on the line, and Missouri S&T missed both charity tosses. However, the Saints were unable to score on their next possession, and the Miners converted two free throws with nine seconds left to seal the win.
