St. Louis - The Maryville baseball team dropped a pair of games to Hillsdale College Sunday afternoon at Weber Field. Despite a late rally, the Saints lost the opener to the Chargers 10-8 and then saw Hillsdale scatter 12 hits in the nightcap as the Chargers won 14-4.

Game One:
The Saints cracked the scoreboard in the home half of the first inning as
Camdon Mercier laced a two-run double down the left field line to give Maryville a 2-0 advantage after one inning of play.
Drake Lubin extended the lead in the bottom of the second with an RBI triple to right field to give Maryville a 3-0 lead.Hills dale tied the game with two runs in the third inning and a run in the fourth, but
Cole Bornhop gave the Saints the lead again with a blast over the center field wall to make the score 4-3.
Dominic Connolly added an RBI single in the inning to push the Saints advantage to 5-3. The Chargers added four more runs in the seventh and eighth innings to extend the lead to 9-5, but the Saints rallied once again as Lubin hit a two-run single to highlight a three run eighth to cut the lead to 9-8.

Game Two:
The Chargers opened the second game of the day with four runs in the top of the first inning, but the Saints answered back. After three straight walks, Lubin hit a sacrifice fly and
Austin Tapella ripped a doub;le to right field to cut the Charger lead in half at 4-2.
Derek Renner tied the game in the inning with a two-run single up the middle to knot the contest at 4-4. Hillsdale re-gained the lead in the second inning with a three-run homer to take a 7-4 advantage. The Chargers added insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings as they pushed across seven runs to take a 14-4 lead and earn the series sweep.
