St. Louis – The Maryville baseball team scattered 12 hits while the pitching staff held Winona State to three hits as the Saints defeated the Warriors 4-2 Saturday afternoon at Weber Field. With the win, Maryville snapped a seven game losing streak.
Game One:
The Warriors opened the scoring for the third game in row with a run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead, but Maryville answered in their half of the inning.
Drake Lubin started the inning with a single and moved to third on an error and scored as
Louis Niemerg hit into a fielder's choice to tie the game at 1-1. After Winona State reclaimed the lead in the second with a run, the Saints answered right back as Lubin drilled a two-run single through the left side to give Maryville a 3-2 advantage. The Saints added a run in the fifth as Lubin singled and stole second with one out in the frame. Niemerg brought Lubin home with a single through the left side to give Maryville a 4-2 lead.
Cody Siebenberger and
Tanner Marshall combined to limit the Warriors to only three hits on the afternoon.
