Kansas City, Mo. – The Maryville University baseball team ripped seven extra-base hits, including three home runs, en route to a 13-2 victory over Rockhurst Saturday afternoon at Loyola Park in Kansas City, Mo. in seven innings. The win extends the Saints current winning streak to four games.
Game One:
Louis Niemerg opened the scoring for the Saints in the top of the first with his sixth home run of the year to put Maryville on top 1-0.
Daniel Covert continued the offensive fireworks in the second with a two-run blast to left field to extend the advantage to 3-0. The Saints pushed across another run in the third frame on an RBI double into the gap in right center field to put Maryville on top 4-0. The Saints took control of the game in the fourth inning as
Drake Lubin hit an RBI single and
Cody Klotz launched a three-run blast to extend the lead to 8-0. Maryville tacked on a run in the fifth before Rockhurst scored two runs in their half of the fifth to cut the advantage to 9-2.
Wyatt Elbe drove in a pair of runs in the seventh with a double while
Cade Schares added a two-run single to push the lead to 13-2.
