St. Louis – The Maryville baseball team's pitching staff limited McKendree to a combined six hits on the afternoon en route to a sweep of the Bearcats Saturday afternoon at Weber Field.
Louis Niemerg threw a three-hitter in the first game of the day to pace the Saints to an 11-0 win.
Cody Siebenberger also tossed a three-hitter as the Saints took the nightcap 12-1.
Game One:
The Saints got things going in the home half of the first as
Wyatt Elbe reached base on an error and moved over to third on a single by
Cody Klotz. Niemerg brought home Elbe on a groundout while Klotz scored on an RBI single from
Camdon Mercier to give Maryville a 2-0 lead.
Derek Renner added to the Saints lead in the third with an RBI single to center field to extend the advantage to 3-0. The scoring continued in the third as the Saints loaded the bases and Hoff cleared them with a double down the left field line to make the score 6-0. The Saints added a run in the fourth as Mercier laced an RBI single to left field to push the score to 7-0. Maryville put the game out of reach in the sixth as the Saints plated four runs to extend the lead to 11-0. Niemerg earned his second win of the year by tossing a three-hit shutout and striking out six Bearcats.

Game Two:
The Bearcats cracked the scoreboard with a run in the first to take a 1-0 lead, but Maryville answered in the second inning. The Saints took control of the contest by sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring seven runs to take a 7-1 lead. Niemerg highlighted the frame with a two-run double, and Mercier ripped an RBI single down the left field line to power the Maryville uprising.
Jackson Burrell drove in the next four Maryville runs as he drilled a three-run triple in the third inning and added an RBI single in the fourth to build an 11-1 lead. Niemerg added another run for the Saints in the fifth as he drilled his fifth homer of the season to give Maryville a 12-1 advantage. Siebenberger tossed six innings and gave up three hits to earn his third win of the season.
