St. Louis – Maryville University baseball head coach
Pat Evers has announced that
Justin Paulsen and
Cody Creed have joined the Saints coaching staff for the 2019-20 season.
Paulsen comes to Maryville after serving as a student assistant last spring at Missouri State. Paulsen graduated from Christian Brothers High School in St. Louis and attended Jefferson College for a year before heading to Springfield, Mo. to play for Missouri State. He helped the Bears to two NCAA Super Regional appearances and a Missouri Valley Conference championship in 2015. Paulsen garnered numerous honors in a Bear uniform, including All-MVC Honorable Mention his senior season, All-MVC second team and NCAA All-Regional team in his junior campaign. He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 39
thround in 2017 and played for two seasons in the Padres organization. Paulsen will be working with the Saints hitters and infielders this coming season.
Creed will return to Maryville after an outstanding season as a mainstay in the Saints pitching rotation this past spring. He finished his senior season with a 5-6 record in 14 appearances with a 5.58 earned run average. Prior to his time at Maryville, Creed was an All-Region and All-Conference selection at Jefferson College before attending Southeast Missouri State his junior season. He will be tasked with working with the Saints pitching staff this year.
