On day one of the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitational, the Maryville volleyball team earned a split over the first two matches. The Saints posted their first sweep of the year with a 25-20, 25-15, 25-15 win over Oakland City. Against the host Panthers, despite a career-high 21 kills from
Cassidy Arndt, Maryville was edged in five sets 25-19, 17-25, 25-22, 19-25, 13-15.

OCU opened the contest by hitting .324 but the Saints survived to grab the first set. Maryville blazed the court with a .385 hitting percentage in set two to ease to a 2-0 margin. In the final set, the Saints held the Mighty Oaks to a negative hitting percentage, -.028, to post an identical set score and close out the tilt.
Cassidy Arndt notched a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs, while hitting .355.
Elizabeth Eardly cranked down 10 kills on just 14 swings for a .714 hitting percentage.
Ali Vaughn handed out 19 assists, and
A.J. Hallemann notched 12 digs.

Versus KWC, Arndt smashed down 21 kills for her career best outing. In addition, she completed a double-double with 15 digs. Hallemann came up with 41 digs, the seventh time a Maryville player has recorded at least 40 digs in a match. Eardly put down 13 kills and added nine blocks.
Kayla Buxton directed the offense with 28 assists and also had a double-double with 15 digs.
Avery Bell accounted for eight blocks on the night.

The Saints stand at 2-4 and close out the tournament Saturday. Maryville plays Bluefield State at 9 a.m. and takes on Trevecca Nazarene at 5 p.m.
