The Maryville volleyball team earned a split on day two close out the Kentucky Wesleyan Tournament in Owensboro, Ky., Saturday. The Saints swept Bluefield State 25-7, 25-14, 25-7 but Trevecca Nazarene edged Maryville 25-13, 25-17, 21-25, 25-19.

In recording its first sweep of the season, Maryville cruised past Bluefield State. The Saints hit .325 while limiting BSU to a -.096 mark.
Elizabeth Eardly had six kills and hit .556, while
Allison Lakin also notched six kills and posted a .500 hitting mark. A.J. Halleman paced the defense with a team-high 15 digs.
Kayla Buxton handed out 16 assists.

The Saints were looking to post back-to-back wins but were defeated by TNU in four sets. After TNU took the first two sets, Maryville extended the match by grabbing a 25-21 win. The Saints took a late lead in set four but the Trojans (6-2) rallied to close out the match.
Cassidy Arndt cranked down 16 kills and added 15 digs, while Buxton matched a double-double on 19 assists and 15 digs.

The Saints move to 3-5 on the season after action in two tourneys. Maryville next plays in a tournament hosted by Lindenwood Sept. 20-21, at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
