Cassidy Arndt tied for the match high with 11 kills but the Maryville volleyball team lost its opening match of the Lindenwood Challenge in three sets to McKendree. In nonconference action at Hyland Arena, the Bearcats won 25-12, 25-18, 25-15.

Arndt drilled 11 kills and added seven digs to pace the Saints attack. The Saints had their best run of offense in the second set with 11 kills, just two errors en route to a .300 hitting percentage. However, the Bearcats were even better at .405.
A.J. Hallemann came up with 13 digs, and
Kayla Buxton finished with 14 assists.

On the season, the Saints are now 3-6 and finish the tournament Saturday. Maryville takes on Flagler at 10 a.m. and plays host Lindenwood in a 2 p.m. start.
