Saints Extend Their Winning Streak to Four Games With a 3-1 Victory Over Missouri S&T

St. Louis – Braden Johnson broke a 1-1 tie midway through the second half to push the 19th-ranked Maryville men's soccer team to a 3-1 win over Missouri S&T Sunday afternoon. The win extends the Saints current winning streak to four games, which matches the best start to a season that Maryville has had in the Division II era.

What Happened – Zulfikar Karimi put the Saints on the scoreboard in the 34th minute as he scored on a penalty kick after a Miner foul in the 18-yard box to put Maryville ahead 1-0. Missouri S&T evened the match in the 54th minute, only to see Johnson take a pass from Mirza Hasecic and bury a strike from 13-yards out in the 61st minute to put the Saints on top 2-1. Grady Schliepsiek added an insurance goal late in the match to give Maryville a 3-1 advantage.

Inside the Numbers – The Saints held a 10-5 lead in shot attempts while putting five of those on frame. Liam Walraven finished the contest with a save to earn his fourth consecutive win of the season.
