Brodie's Brace Boosts Saints Past Drury 2-0; Maryville Runs Winning Streak to Five

St. Louis – Ben Brodie's brace boosted the No. 9 Maryville men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Drury Friday afternoon. The Saints run their season-opening winning streak to five straight, the best start to a season of the Division II era. The streak is the longest since the 1994 team also won its first five games.

What Happened
After Drury misplayed a ball, Brodie pounced on the error and fired in a shot in the fifth minute. Drury was attempting to pass the ball back to its goalie but Brodie got there first, swiped the ball and tucked it in on the left side for the quick 1-0 lead. In the 69th minute of action, Dom Riggio feathered a pass in behind the Drury defense that sprung Brodie. He took a touch, slid and slotted in a shot to the lower left corner to seal the victory.

Inside the Numbers
Liam Walraven came up with four saves on the day to post his second shutout of the season.
Dom Riggio recorded his second assist of the year.
In the second half, the game was delayed about 40 minutes due to lightning in the area.
