St. Louis –
Rasmus Tauts scored early in the second half to propel the sixth-ranked Maryville men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Lewis Friday afternoon at Maryville Field. The win extends the Saints current streak to seven games, which is the second longest winning streak in program history.
What Happened – After the teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first half, the Saints wasted no time to get on the scoreboard in the second frame. After the Flyers misplayed a ball just outside the 18-yard box, Tauts played a pass from
JD Sohn and slotted a shot into the lower left corner of the goal to put Maryville on top 1-0. The Saints defense took over from that point and limited the Flyers to three shots the rest of the way.
Inside the Numbers –Each team finished the match with six shots apiece while the Saints held a 2-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Liam Walraven was credited with one save as he earned his fourth clean sheet of the year.
