Alex Johnson scored with just two seconds remaining in the second to half to force overtime as the Maryville women's soccer team and Lewis played to a 1-1 draw Friday afternoon at Maryville Field.
What Happened – The Flyers struck first in the 22
nd minute off a breakaway to take an early 1-0 lead. After having numerous opportunities in the second half, Johnson took a pass from
Amanda Kaltwasser and slotted a shot just past the goalkeeper with two seconds remaining to even the match at 1-1. The two teams turned the game into a defensive battle in the two extra sessions as neither squad could score.
Inside the Numbers – Despite being held with a shot in the first half, the Saints finished the match with 13 attempts with six of those being on frame. Johnson finished the day with five shots while Kaltwasser had a pair of attempts.
