Molly Krispin and
Kristen Sparks each scored a goal as the Maryville women's soccer team defeated Illinois Springfield 2-0 Sunday afternoon at Maryville Field.
What Happened – Krispin opened the scoring for the Saints as she took a pass from
Caite Huesgen and slotted a shot past the goalkeeper in the 12
th minute to stake Maryville to a 1-0 advantage. Sparks added an insurance goal in the 85
th minute as she placed a pass from
Alex Johnson into the net to put the Saints on top 2-0.
Inside the Numbers – The goal for Krispin was the first in her career. The Saints were outshot 11-5 in the contest.
Alison Riddle was credited with five saves on the day to earn her second clean sheet of the year. The shutout also moves her into the third spot on the career list with 13.
