Southwest Baptist recap
Parker Long drained his first six 3-point attempts and finished with 28 points but the Maryville men's basketball team was dealt an 89-72 defeat by Southwest Baptist Saturday afternoon. Long hit 10-of-13 shots overall en route to his second-highest scoring output of the season. Southwest Baptist was red-hot from the field and shot 58.9 percent to key the win.

What Happened
The Bearcats started quickly by tallying the first eight points of the game. The Saints responded and quickly grabbed the lead. Long sank his first 3-pointer, and
Ross Ryan added a jumper in the paint. Down 15-7, the Saints scored six straight. Later, Long hit a jumper and drained a 3-pointer to give the Saints their first lead at 18-17. Maryville stayed in front at 29-26 and a jumper by Gant and another long triple by Long pushed the advantage to 34-26.
Zach Colletta made two free throws for a seven-point lead with 6:26 left but SBU slowly inched back into the game. The visitors took a 46-41 edge at halftime. Led by Long, the Saints hit five of their six attempts from beyond the arc.

The Bearcats tried to edge away but Long kept answering for the Saints.
Chris White converted a 3-pointer from the wing to keep the SBU lead at 58-50. The Bearcats went back up by double digits but two free throws by Colletta and a 3-pointer by
Owen Long brought the Saints to 67-59 with 8:48 remaining. The Saints were unable to get any closer as the Bearcats held on for the road victory.

Ryan finished with 12 points, while Gant recorded 10 points and three steals. The Saints shot 51 percent from the field and hit half of their 18 3-point attempts.
Parker Long finished 6-of-8 from 3-point range in the contest.
