Farris and Jackson Score 20 Points Apiece but Quincy Uses 3-Pointers to Down Maryville

Daniel Farris and Ari Jackson both scored 20 points apiece but Quincy used sterling 3-point shooting to down Maryville 91-81 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action Saturday. Jackson hit six of seven shots from beyond the arc as the Saints had four players score in double figures. Maryville committed a season-low eight turnovers in the game.
 
What Happened
The Saints were up 11-7 before building a double-digit lead. Donovan Parker sank a 3-pointer, and Jackson followed from deep for a 17-7 edge. Gary Pendleton scored on a layup for a 22-12 advantage at the 12:21 mark. The Hawks chipped away at the Maryville lead and inched ahead 27-26. The Saints retook the edge at 34-29 and led 38-37 at halftime.
 
However, the Hawks heated up from 3-point range in the second half. The visitors sank their first eight attempts from deep to surge ahead. The Saints turned up the pressure later and would not let Quincy pull away. Maryville went on an 8-2 run and drew to 87-75. The Saints got as close as 10 points in the final minute but was unable to trim the deficit to single digits.
 
Jaelon Hood added 13 points, while Owen Long sank all 10 free throw attempts en route to finishing with 12 points and four assists. Davis Walker came off the bench to lead Maryville in rebounding with six boards. The Saints sank 10 3-pointers but were unable to offset Quincy's torrid 18-of-29 shooting from beyond the arc.

Owen Long went a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line.
