The Maryville men's lacrosse team picked up its first victory of the season as the Saints downed Lincoln Memorial 12-10 in a game played on the campus of Union College in Kentucky. Jake Foster fired in four goals to lead the attack, while Jayden Fraser notched a hat trick and added two assists.
 
The Saints took a 2-1 lead but LMU rallied to force a 5-5 tie by halftime. Justin Morgan and Jayden Frasier fired in back-to-back goals for a 7-5 advantage. The Railsplitters jumped ahead 8-7 before the Saints responded with three straight. Jacob Allen tallied, followed by Jake Foster on a man-up situation. Morgan found the back of the net again for a 10-8 cushion at the 1:47 mark of the third. LMU pulled one goal back in the final minute for a 10-9 Maryville margin.
 
Foster fired in another goal with the Saints up a man for an 11-9 lead, which would prove to be the game winner. LMU scored to cut the Maryville margin to just one goal. However, Foster sealed the victory with his fourth goal of the day at the 1:06 mark.
 
William DeVinney made eight stops on the day to record the win. The Saints were on the man-up attack three times on the day and converted all three times. Maryville saw LMU turn the ball over 26 times, and the Saints were successful on 22 of their 25 clear attempts.
 
The Saints improve to 1-1 on the season and look to make it two straight wins as they play at Tusculum Monday, Feb. 17.
