Mary Barton became the first Maryville player to score at least 30 points in consecutive games but Illinois Springfield spoiled the senior's efforts with an 85-80 win over the Saints. After pouring in 33 points Thursday at Lewis, she recorded 30 points Saturday against the Prairie Stars.
Abby Monis notched a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds.

What Happened
The Saints edged out to a 14-12 lead after the first quarter but UIS took a 34-32 lead at halftime. The Prairie Stars built a 47-36 edge before the Saints closed the gap.
Jayda Jansen and Barton scored back-to-back jumpers. Two free throws by Barton trimmed the deficit to 47-42 with four minutes left in the third quarter. The hosts took a 55-47 edge into the final 10 minutes.

Abby Monis scored inside, and
UU Longs drilled a 3-pointer to bring the Saints to 64-59 with 5:27 left. Maryville did not let the Prairie Stars build a double-digit lead and stayed within striking range. The Saints made one more push when Barton rained in a triple, and jumper by Jansen brought the UIS lead down to 72-69 at the 1:23 mark. However, the Prairie Stars held the advantage by sinking five of their next six free throws to close out the game.

Barton nearly notched a double-double as she added nine rebounds and four steals to her 30-point outing. Jansen added 13 points to the Maryville attack.
