Truman State recap
Mary Barton and Jayda Jansen both scored 32 points apiece but Maryville had a shot at the overtime buzzer that rattled in and out as Truman State escaped Moloney Arena with a pulsating 84-83 victory. The Saints had two players score at least 30 points in the same game for the first time in program history. Maryville set a program record with just four turnovers.
 
What Happened
The Saints used a 9-0 run late in the first quarter to build a 21-14 lead. Truman State stayed close in the second as Maryville was up 44-35 heading into halftime. TSU used a big third quarter and hit a late 3-pointer to grab a 59-57 edge heading into the fourth. Jansen drained a 3-pointer to put the Saints ahead but Truman scored three straight. The visitors built a 66-62 lead until Barton drained a triple. The teams traded baskets until it was 72-69 with 1:49 left in regulation.
 
Barton drew a fouls and sank both free throws. Truman State converted a layup for a 74-71 lead with 31 seconds to play. After a timeout, Barton drove down the lane, got a layup to fall and hit a free throw to tie the game at 74-74. Truman State missed a shot with 3.4 seconds left but the Saints also could not convert at the buzzer as the game moved into overtime.
 
Truman State hit a 3-pointer to start OT but Baron quickly answered with a jumper and pushed the Saints ahead 79-77. The Bulldogs tallied five-in-a-row to go back up 82-79 but Barton scored to pull the Saints to 82-81 with 1:34 to play. Truman missed two chances and Barton knocked down a long jumper from the left swing with 25.6 seconds remaining as Maryville grabbed an 83-82 lead. Truman State grabbed an offensive rebound and a putback by Katie Jaseckas with 3.4 seconds would prove to be the game winner. The Saints had the final shot from the left wing at the buzzer but the ball hit the far side of the rim, bounced once and rattled out as Truman won the thriller.
