The Maryville men's lacrosse team had its two-game winning streak come to an end 11-6 at the hands of No. 16 Lenoir-Rhyne Friday in Hickory, N.C. The Saints made a late push and scored four of the last six goals of the game but could not dig out of an early 6-1 deficit.

Just under three minutes in, the Bears scored the first goal of the game. Jake Foster equalized for the Saints at the eight-minute mark. Lenoir-Rhyne tallied five straight to grab a 6-1 edge. Foster found the back of the net again but Maryville was down 7-2 at the break.

Parker Lee and Jai Benson scored midway through the third quarter as the Saints drew to within 9-4. The Saints tallied two more goals by Jacob Allen and Jayden Fraser but were unable to draw any closer in the final minutes.

The Jake Foster led the Saints with two goals and two assists. Maryville had four more shots on goal than the Bears but LR goalie Noah Johnson came up with 18 saves.

The Saints slip to 2-2 on the season, while the Bears improve to 3-1 and remain unbeaten at home. Maryville returns to play with a contest at Catawba Sunday, March 1.
