St. Louis – The Maryville baseball team could not overcome an early deficit as the Saints fell to Lewis 11-5 Thursday evening in a non-conference match-up at Weber Field.
Game One:
After the Flyers scored 10 runs over the first five innings of play, the Saints cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth.
Elias Stevens opened the frame with a solo blast to center field while
Austin Tapella launched a two-run homer to cut the Lewis lead to 10-3.
The Flyers tacked on a run in the top of the sixth to take a 11-3 advantage. The Saints battled back in the home half of the inning as
Nick Hofmann ripped a single through the left side to score a pair of runs to make the score 11-5. Lewis' pitching staff held the Saints hitless over the final three innings to claim the victory.
