What Happened
After a defensive battle in the opening quarter, the Saints stepped up on the offensive end. Trailing 16-13, Jayda Jansen and Donnetta Colbert hit consecutive jumpers. After a QU bucket, Jansen sank a mid-range jumper then a long 3-pointer to give the Saints their first lead of the day at 20-18. Quincy tied the game before a Karlee Feldman layup and one free throw by Mussorici. Kate Rolfes drained a 3-pointer from the right wing, and Carsyn Fearday's layup boosted the Saints to a 28-22 lead. Maryville's defense held Quincy to 7-of-25 shooting (28 percent) in the first half.

Quincy kept it close in the third quarter and trimmed the gap to 41-40 heading into the fourth quarter. The Saints edged ahead late in the fourth and were up 58-53 on two Jansen free throws at the 1:26 mark. QU had a three-point play but the Saints turned the ball over. The Hawks tied the game with 33 seconds left at 58-58. Jansen was fouled and put Maryville up 60-58 with 6.5 ticks to go. However, Quincy's Laney Lantz hit a jumper with 0.3 seconds remaining to force overtime.

In the extra session, Taylor Kirby grabbed an offensive rebound for a putback. Hunter Stidham had a steal and scored for a 64-60 edge. On the next possession, Kirby again hit the offensive glass for a hoop and a 66-60 lead midway through overtime. Jansen converted two at the line, and after a QU turnover, Antoinette Mussorici nailed two more at the stripe for a 70-62 lead. The visitors made two 3-pointers but Jansen's jumper with 12 seconds to play iced the game. Mussorici added 13 points and seven assists.
