Sohn Scores in Saints Shutout Victory Over Drury

Springfield, Mo. – Senior JD Sohn scored his first goal of the season Friday afternoon for the Maryville University men's soccer team in a critical 1-0 conference win over the league-leading Drury University Panthers.

The Run of Play – Goalkeeper Nick Hemann made the first important stop of the day in the 19th minute as both teams struggled to get shots away in the early going. Senior Ricardo Andrade logged the first shot on goal for the Saints in the 35th minute. Sohn, a Quincy, Ill., native, struck for Maryville in the 43rd minute off a pass from freshman Jimmy Doherty to put the Saints up 1-0.

Neither team was able to log a shot on goal in the second half as the Saints back line of Dom Riggio, Cameron Caldwell, Alberto Di Pierri, Fabian Wetl, and Andrew Schulz stood tall and assisted Hemann to the 1-0 shutout victory.

Inside the Numbers – With the win on Friday, the Saints are now undefeated against the Panthers in the last six meetings (5-0-1) and haven't lost to Drury in six years.
