Waterhouse Pushes Saints to 0-0 Draw with Eight Saves

St. Louis, Mo. – Goalkeeper Elyse Waterhouse made eight critical saves for the Maryville University women's soccer team Friday afternoon in a 0-0 double overtime draw with the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
 
The Run of Play – The first half flew by with few goal scoring opportunities for the Saints. In the second half, Lexi Gentry put the first shot on frame for Maryville in the 81st minute, but it was saved by the Tritons 'keeper. The match was scoreless and headed to overtime.
 
In overtime, Waterhouse made her biggest save of the day on a breakaway attempt in the 97th minute. The senior made a leaping save to push the shot attempt over the bar and keep the match tied. Gentry had one more chance with a header attempt on goal in the second overtime, but it was denied, and the match ended nil-nil.
 
Inside the Numbers – This was the sixth match of the year for the women's program that went into overtime and the fourth to go to double overtime.

Next Up – The Saints stay put for another rivalry match Sunday, Oct. 17, against Lindenwood University. Kickoff with the Lions will be at 12 p.m. Sunday at Maryville Field.
