Molly Krispin scored a late winner for the Maryville University women's soccer program Sunday afternoon as the Saints defeated crosstown rival Lindenwood University 1-0. This was the first goal of the year for the midfielder and the third of her career as a Saint.

Amanda Kaltwasser broke past the Lions backline in the 14
th minute and fired a shot that was stopped by the opposing goalkeeper. The Saints launched nine shots in the first half with three on goal but were unable to get on the scoreboard and the match went to the half tied at zero.

Elyse Waterhouse came up with a big save on a breakaway attempt to keep the match level. Kaltwasser had another golden opportunity in the 79
th minute after dribbling past two defenders in the box only to be denied by a diving Lions 'keeper. Not long thereafter, the Saints broke through on a chaotic sequence. A ball was curled in from the right side and found the feet of a Lindenwood defender who tried to clear the ball but mishit the attempt which kept Krispin onside to poke home the sitter and give the Saints a late 1-0 victory.

Inside the Numbers – This is only the second victory over the Lions in program history with the first coming back in 2018.

Next Up – The women's soccer program hits the road next weekend for a GLVC matchup with the University of Southern Indiana Friday, Oct. 22. The game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start or directly after the completion of the men's game.
