Evansville, Ind. – The Maryville University women's soccer team came from behind Friday evening to take a halftime lead against the University of Southern Indiana but could not hold on and fell in overtime 3-2. Sophomore
Brooke Slater collected the first goal of her career with a powerful header to close out the first half.

The Run of Play – Although she gave up a goal in the 29
th minute, goalkeeper
Elyse Waterhouse made five big saves to keep the deficit minimal in the early going of the first half. That defense turned into offense in the 41
st minute when
Kennedy Reeser and
Madison Canoy worked the ball up the left side before Canoy whipped in a left-footed cross that skipped past USI defenders and straight to
Tori Calvert who fired home her fourth goal of the season to tie the match at one. Two minutes later, Canoy snagged another helper when she lofted a free kick into the box that found the head of Slater and gave the Saints a 2-1 lead.

th minute,
Amanda Kaltwasser got in behind the USI defense but was unable to beat the 'keeper. The Screaming Eagles tied the game in the 49
th minute with a penalty kick and sent the match to overtime tied 2-2. In the overtime period the Saints could not take advantage of being up a player and let up a goal in the 94
th minute to drop the contest 3-2.
