Hammond, Ind. – On day two of the 2021 Midwest Crossover Tournament, the Maryville volleyball team ran its non-conference winning streak to four with a victory over Northern Michigan before Parkside defeated the Saints. Maryville beat NMU 25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-9. UWP defeated the Saints 25-22, 25-20, 8-25, 25-21. Maryville ended the Crossover Tournament with a winning 2-1 record.

Taylor Hasbrook served up seven aces, the most by a Maryville player since August 2018, to key the five-set victory. In the decisive fifth set, the Saints broke a 1-1 tie by scoring five straight points to take command. After a hitting error by NMU,
Grace Knadler and
Mikaela Kues had a block.
Taylor Kehoe recorded a service ace, and two more miscues by NMU built a 6-1 lead. The Saints led by at least four points the rest of the way to win their fourth five-setter this season.

Parkside
The Saints fell behind 2-0 as Parkside narrowly won the first two sets. Maryville dominated the third set, allowing the fewest points in a full set all season as Parkside recorded only eight points. The Saints hit .400 in the set while holding Parkside to a -.034 mark. Maryville had one of its longest point streaks in the Division II era with 10 straight to open the set. After Parkside scored its first point, the Saints reeled off another 6-0 run to take a 16-1 lead. In the fourth set, the Rangers got off to a quick start and built an 8-1 lead. The Saints chipped away at the deficit and eventually tied the set at 16-16. The score was tied at 18-18 but Parkside scored five of the next six points and held off the Saints.
