Andrade Gifts Saints Eighth Straight Win

Lebanon, Ill. – The Maryville University men's soccer team made it eight wins in a row Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 victory over McKendree University thanks to a Ricardo Andrade goal and a three-save shutout from goalkeeper Nick Hemann. This was Andrade's second goal and Hemann's sixth shutout of the season.

The Run of Play – The first half saw Hemann make two comfortable saves from long-range efforts as well as an ambitious shot on goal from Mirza Hasecic, but the match remained scoreless into the halftime break.

In the 52nd minute, senior Ben Brodie bolted into the box and juked out a Bearcats defender before laying off a simple pass to Andrade, who fired home a left-footed strike into the side netting to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Tim Smith tested the 'keeper in the 72nd minute but was denied. Hemann was called into action one final time in the 78th minute and secured his third save of the day to give the Saints their seventh shutout victory of the season.

Inside the Numbers – This is the second longest win streak in program history, trailing only the 10-game win streak to start the season in 2019
