Bolivar, Mo. – Senior
Roni Norwood had a goal and an assist in the Maryville University women's soccer 2-0 shutout win Sunday afternoon over the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats.
The Run of Play – The Saints started quickly in the sixth minute when Norwood played a ball from the right side past the Bearcats backline and into the feet of freshman
Tori Calvert, where the forward was able to rip a shot that was tipped by the goalkeeper but still had enough power to trickle past the end line and into the goal. Maryville put five more shots on frame in the opening half, but all were saved, and the lead was 1-0 at the halftime break.
Lori Chalupny's squad picked up where they left off in the 47
th minute when senior
Amanda Kaltwasser beat a Bearcats defender and played a ball on the ground to Norwood who fired home the first goal of her career from 10-yards out. That would be all the Saints needed as they cruised to a 2-0 conference win.
