Quincy, Ill. – The Maryville volleyball team was looking to build its first three-match winning streak of the season but was stopped Saturday afternoon at Quincy. The Hawks held off the Saints by set scores of 26-24, 25-16, 25-17.
Taylor Keck posted her second straight double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs to direct the Maryville attack.

What Happened
Set one was tied at 12-12 before the Saints edged ahead 15-12 after a QU error, an
Alyssa Koska kill and one by
Mikaela Kues. QU tied the match at 17-17 until an error by the Hawks pushed Maryville back on top. The set was deadlocked again at 19-all but Quincy scored three straight to jump back ahead. Two consecutive kills by
Taylor Keck and a QU error tied the set once again at 22-22. The score was tied at 24-all but Quincy scored two straight to take the lead 1-0.

The Hawks used two different 4-0 runs to grab an advantage midway through set two. The Saints fell behind 12-6 but were unable to trim the gap to less than four the rest of the way. Maryville made a mini push with a kill by
Avery Bell, one by Koska and a solo block by
Karolina Rodowski. The Saints closed the gap to 20-16 but the Hawks held off the late charge.

The Saints fell behind early in set three but came back and tied the set at 6-6. The set was still knotted up at 11-all until QU edged ahead with a 5-0 run. Koska ended the Quincy burst with a kill. The Saints got as close as 20-16 before the Hawks closed out the match.
