St. Charles, Mo. – The Maryville volleyball team served up eight aces and had six more digs but Lindenwood defeated the Saints 26-24, 25-20, 25-13 Tuesday night in St. Charles.
Taylor Keck narrowly missed a double-double with nine kills and 16 digs, while
A.J. Hallemann led the team with 18 digs.
Abbie Schnell accounted for four of Maryville's service aces.

What Happened
The Lions built an early lead before the Saints scored four straight points.
Abbie Schnell served three straight aces to forge an 8-8 tie. A kill by
Alyssa Koska knotted the set at 10-10. Lindenwood took a 13-10 edge but the Saints answered with three straight points. The set was tied five more times including at 21-21 but the Lions scored three straight points. Maryville saved three set points but Lindenwood scored two straight for a 26-24 win.

The Saints jumped out to a 5-1 advantage in set two. Maryville had two kills sandwiched around two Lindenwood errors to lead early. The Saints stretched the margin to 8-3 after a
Taylor Keck service ace.
Karolina Rodowski had a kill, and after Schnell's fourth ace,
Hannah Scrum pounded down a kill for a 12-5 lead that forced a Lindenwood timeout. However, the Lions rallied and tied the set at 12-all. Scrum and Rodowski notched kills for a two-point lead but Lindenwood again tied the set. The Lions used a late 5-0 push and took the second set 25-20.

The third set saw the Lions tally six straight to inch out to an 11-5 cushion. Koska had a kill to finally end the run. Two straight kills by Keck brought the Saints to 15-11. Maryville stayed close but the Lions used a 7-0 run late in the set and closed out the match 25-13.
