Clayton, Mo. – The Maryville volleyball team had its third-highest hitting percentage of the season and rolled to a second straight win with a 25-15, 25-21, 25-19 decision at Fontbonne. The Saints recorded a .224 hitting mark while holding the Griffons to just a .068 hitting percentage.

What Happened
With the opening set tied at 5-5, the Saints scored four straight to surge into the lead. After a Fontbonne error,
A.J. Hallemann served an ace, and
Makenna Brauman notched a kill. Another hitting error by the Griffons built a 9-5 lead for Maryville. The Saints were still up 12-9 before taking control with another 4-0 burst.
Mikaela Kues began the run with a kill, and a
Taylor Kehoe ace built a 16-9 edge.

Set two was close throughout and the Saints slowly built a 21-18 lead. Fontbonne tallied three straight to tie the proceedings at 21-21. However, Maryville closed with a 4-0 rush.
Taylor Keck put down a kill, and Fontbonne committed two straight hitting errors. A kill by
Alyssa Koska handed the Saints a 25-21 win and a 2-0 lead.

The third set was deadlocked at 6-6 before the Saints took the lead for good.
Hannah Scrum put down a kill, and Kues and
Karolina Rodowski had a block. A Fontbonne error gave the Saints a 9-6 edge. After a Griffon point, the Saints reeled off five consecutive points. Kues finished off a point, and the Maryville defense forced three straight errors. A block by Keck and Rodowski pushed the margin to 14-7. The cushion grew to as many as nine points as the Saints eased to their second consecutive win.
