Antoinette Mussorici recorded 22 points and five assists to lead the Maryville women's basketball team to a season-opening 72-59 victory at Davenport Friday afternoon.
Rylee Mulvaney added 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc and tied her career high with nine rebounds to boost the offense.

What Happened:
Down 33-29 at halftime, the Saints forged a 36-36 tie after two free throws by
Olivia Kastens. Mussorici finally pushed Maryville ahead with a layup and free throw for a 44-41 edge at the 3:08 mark of the third. Mulvaney drilled a 3-pointer in transition for a six-point lead. The Saints took a 50-46 edge into the fourth.

The Saints took control with a 13-1 run to open the final quarter. Mussorici started the run with a three-point play, and after one Davenport free throw,
Hunter Stidham splashed in a triple.
Taylor Kirby scored on two straight layups, and a
Carsyn Fearday 3-pointer built a 63-47 advantage with just under seven minutes to play. Davenport didn't score its first field goal until midway through the fourth but the Saints built their lead to as many as 17 points to cruise to the road triumph.
