Ingram 3-Pointer in Final Minute Caps Huge Rally as Saints Topple Tiffin 77-75

Normandy, Mo. – Freshman Dylan Ingram drilled a critical corner 3-pointer with 56.8 seconds left as Maryville men's basketball rallied for a thrilling 77-75 victory over Tiffin. The Saints trailed by as many as 15 points midway through the second half before coming all the way back for the season opener, which was played at UMSL. Ari Jackson led the Saints with 21 points, while Kelvin Swims added 13 points. Ingram finished with a team-high seven rebounds.

What Happened:
The Saints were down 64-49 with 10:12 to play before mounting the huge rally. Ingram drained a 3-pointer to ignite the burst. Swims had a three-point play to cut the deficit to single digits at 64-55. Later, he sank two free throws and Davis Walker sank one at the line to bring Maryville to within 67-61. Daniel Farris had a drive down the lane for a layup to trim the gap to 67-63 with 5:11 left. Jackson was fouled on a 3-pointer and sank all three charity tosses to bring the Saints to 72-69.

Farris again had a driving layup and scored to chop Tiffin's lead to just 73-71 with 2:45 remaining. After a defensive stop, Jackson grabbed an offensive rebound, kicked the ball to Swims who found Ingram in front of the Maryville bench. The forward splashed in the go-ahead trey as the Saints finally went ahead inside the final minute. The defense made another stop, and Jackson scored in the lane for a 76-73 lead with 16.8 seconds left. Tiffin hit both ends of a one-and-one with 3.7 ticks left and fouled Farris with 3.1 to play. He converted the second free throw for a two-point lead, and Tiffin's half-court heave bounced off the rim as the Saints celebrated the victory.
