St. Charles, Mo. – The Maryville wrestling team returned to action at the Lindenwood Open Saturday in St. Charles, Mo.

Anthony Pisciotta was edged in his opening match at 125 but rallied to reach the third round of the consolation draw. In the 141 classification,
Taylor Jokerst was defeated by a wrestler from Division I Northern Illinois before getting eliminated in the second round of the back draw.

Tyler Stegall faced a gauntlet of Division I foes to start his run at 149. He recorded a 4-1 triumph over a DI opponent from Indiana but lost in the semifinals to DI Oklahoma State's Victor Voinovich. Stegall lost to yet another DI wrestler from Oklahoma State before he took the fifth-place match via a walkover.

At 157, Saints
Michael Peters and
Bryce Raphael collided in the second round of the consolation bracket, with Peters advancing with an 8-2 decision. However, he was eliminated by Jake Reicen from DI Illinois in the next round. Â
Cody Everhart lost at 174 to a standout from Central Oklahoma and saw his day end with a loss to Missouri's Ellis Pfleger.
Bret Heil was defeated by his opponent from DI Indiana but then had to forfeit his next match.

The Saints had two competitors make runs at 184.
Joey Williams began his day with a victory over his opponent from McKendree. He lost in the semifinals before squaring off against Maryville teammate
Jay Anding. Williams emerged in the battle of the Saints with a 3-1 win in the consolation semis. His run finally ended with a loss in the third-place match. Anding opened with a 3-0 victory before dropping a decision to No. 3 Dan Filipek of McKendree. Anding notched a 5-0 win and then defeated his DI opponent from Liberty. After his loss to Williams, Anding won the fifth-place match with an 8-2 victory.

At 285, Aaron Herman recorded a fall at the 1:32 mark but was edged 1-0 by a wrestler from Division I Michigan State. Facing another DI opponent, Herman lost a heartbreaker via TB-1 in a 6-4 margin.

The Saints are next in action at the Jim Koch Wisconsin Open Dec. 4, in Kenosha, Wis.
