Box Score Kansas City, Mo. - The Maryville women's basketball team began exhibition play at Division I Kansas City and pushed the Roos to the final buzzer but dropped an 80-66 decision at the Swinney Center. Playing in her hometown,
Antoinette Mussorici tallied a game-high 25 points to pace the Saints. She would have tied a school record for free throws made as she drilled 19 at the stripe.

What Happened:
The Saints fell behind in the early going as the Roos rained down 3-pointers. Maryville stayed within striking distance and opened the second quarter on a 7-0 run.
Taylor Kirby hit a turnaround jumper in the lane, and
Antoinette Mussorici hit three of four free throw attempts.
Haidyn Pitsch hit a floating jumper to pull Maryville to within one.

With 5:52 left in the first half, Mussorici sank two at the line to give the Saints their first lead of the game at 24-23. Kansas City went back up 32-28 until Mussorici hit two charity tosses and a runner to forge a 32-32 tie.
Faith Hawthorne scored on a layup, and
Carsyn Fearday hit a long triple from the top of the key to boost the Saints up 36-34. The Roos scored late to tie the game at 36-36 at intermission.

Carsyn Fearday converted a driving layup to push Maryville back up 38-36 before Kansas City tallied eight straight to jump ahead 44-38.
Olivia Kastens had a strong take for a layup to end the Roos burst. Kansas City used a 12-2 spurt and eventually took a 60-44 lead into the final quarter. The Saints got as close as 74-64 with 1:47 left but never cut the deficit to single digits.
