St. Louis – The Maryville women's basketball team rolled to an 85-57 victory over Hannibal-LaGrange Saturday afternoon. Antoinette Mussorici and Carsyn Fearday guided the Saints with 15 points apiece, while Olivia Kastens chipped in 11. All 12 Saints who played scored in the contest. Maryville shot 50.8 percent from the field and forced HLG into 29 turnovers, the most by an opponent since 2012.
 
What Happened:
The Saints roared out of the gates by scoring the first six points of the game. Mussorici scored the opening two buckets of the game, and Fearday converted a layup. After two HLG free throws, Maryville reeled off 11 straight points. Kastens sparked the run with a 3-pointer, and Mussorici had a three-point play. After a CiCi Rindy layup, Abby Weis drilled a triple for a 17-2 advantage. The Trojans made a trey but the Saints went on a 7-0 run to end the quarter with a 24-5 edge.
 
Maryville used a 7-2 run early in the second quarter to grab a 31-10 cushion, its largest of the first half. HLG had its best burst with seven-in-a-row but the Saints responded with four straight. A Mussorici bucket just before halftime built a 42-24 advantage. The Saints shot 54.8 percent in the first half and forced 18 turnovers.
 
The margin stood at 46-28 in the third quarter before the Saints ripped off a 15-3 run. Rylee Mulvaney drained a 3-pointer, and Mussorici sank a jumper. Fearday converted two at the line, and Rindy's added a bucket inside. After the Trojans made a 3-pointer, Kastens answered with two straight from beyond the arc for a 61-31 lead, Maryville's largest of the game as the Saints cruised to the victory.
