Drury Recap
In its first tri-match weekend, the Maryville volleyball team traveled to Indianapolis to face two ranked teams. The Saints challenged No. 9 Drury but the Panthers prevailed 25-16, 25-15, 25-15. Rachel Hurt paced Maryville with 12 kills, while Abbie Schnell recorded 23 assists. A.J. Hallemann topped the team with 14 digs. The Saints take on No. 25 Indianapolis later in the day.
 
What Happened
The Saints battled in the opening set and forged a 10-10 tie. However, Drury scored five straight points and seven of the next eight to surge ahead. Hannah Scrum had a kill to halt the Drury run at 17-12 but the Saints never got closer than six points.
 
Mikaela Kues nailed a kill to tie set two at 3-3 until the Panthers used a 5-1 run to jump ahead. Trailing 11-6, Rachel Hurt finished a play for the first point of a 4-1 burst. Schnell served two straight aces before a kill by Ella Kosky drew the Saints to 12-10. The Panthers went on a 6-2 run and held the margin for a 2-0 lead.
 
Drury started the third with a 3-2 lead but went on to score seven of the next eight points. The Saints stopped the run to get to 10-4. Karolina Rodowski drilled a point, and Scrum had back-to-back aces to trim the deficit to 13-7. The Panthers used a 7-2 run to grab a double-digit lead and close out the match.
