Maryville volleyball team faced its second ranked opponent of the day, and No. 25 Indianapolis proved worthy of its ranking with a 25-12, 25-20, 25-18 decision.
Hannah Scrum paced the Saints with nine kills and a .308 hitting percentage to go along with eight digs.
Karolina Rodowski contributed eight kills, while
Taylor Hasbrook topped the defense with 16 digs. Earlier in the day, the Saints dropped a decision to No. 9 Drury.

What Happened
The Saints trailed by three but back to back kills by Rodowski and Scrum, followed by a UIndy error tied the set at 6-6. Maryville was only down 8-7 until the home side scored six straight points.
Avery Bell and
Rachel Hurt stopped the run with a block but UIndy tacked on another 4-0 and took a double digit lead.

Set two saw seven ties and four lead changes. UIndy led 6-4 before the Saints ripped off a 7-0 burst, their best run of the day. After a Greyhound error, Rodowski pounded down a kill to tie the score. Scrum's kill pushed the Saints ahead at 7-6. UIndy committed back-to-back errors before Rodowski and Scrum struck again for an 11-6 lead. Deadlocked at 15-all,
Mikaela Kues had a kill, and a block by Rodowski and
Abbie Schnell built a 17-15 lead for the Saints. The Greyhounds scored three-in-a-row but Hurt put down a kill to tie the set. UIndy inched ahead and scored the last three points to take the set.

The Saints got out to an early 4-1 lead boosted by kills from Bell and
Taylor Keck. Still up 8-6, a kill by Scrum and two errors by the Greyhounds led to an 11-6 lead. However, UIndy scored four straight and used a 9-2 run to reclaim the advantage. Maryville got as close as 15-14 after a UIndy setting error but the Greyhounds went on a 6-1 burst to break the set open. The Saints got to 18-15 after a Kues kill but never got any closer.

What's Next?
The Saints are back at home Saturday, Feb. 27, as they host the first of two tri-match weekends in Moloney Arena. Maryville takes on William Jewell at Noon. After WJC and Southern Indiana play at 3 p.m., the Saints face USI at 6 p.m.
