Jaelon Hood hit a corner 3-pointer with 2.9 seconds left in overtime to boost the Maryville men's basketball team to a scintillating 70-68 win at Missouri S&T. The Saints forced overtime when senior
Daniel Farris sank two free throws with 1.2 seconds left.
Owen Long led four Maryville players in double figures with 19 points. Farris finished with 15 points and seven assists.
Donovan Parker had 11, while Hood capped his 10-point night with the game-winning 3-pointer.

What Happened
The first half was close throughout before the Saints took a one-point edge into the break. The Saints were down by two until Long tied the game, and
Donovan Parker splashed in consecutive 3-pointers for a 37-31 lead. Long helped the Saints hold on to a narrow edge as he tallied six straight points midway through the second half. The game was tied at 43-43 before
Daniel Farris scored on a layup, and
JT Morgan completed a three-point play for a 48-43 lead. The Miners came back with seven straight to take a 54-53 edge. Morgan scored inside and Parker rained in a triple for a 56-54 Maryville led with four minutes left. The Saints looked like they were in trouble as they were down 65-51 but Farris sank two free throws with 10.2 ticks left. Missouri S&T missed the front end of a one-and-one to give the Saints the ball back. Farris was fouled with 1.2 seconds left and sank both to force overtime at 65-65.

Farris scored on a driving layup to put the Saints ahead 67-65 before the Miners made three free throws for a 68-67 edge with just over a minute to play. The teams traded turnovers as
JT Morgan came up with a steal with 25 seconds left.
Owen Long drove the right side of the lane before finding
Jaelon Hood open in the right corner. The junior guard drained the 3-pointer to give the Saints a 70-68 lead with 2.9 ticks to play. The Miners got a 3-pointer off at the buzzer but the shot misfired as the Saints escaped with the thrilling road win. The victory is the second straight for the Saints, who are coming off a win over Drury. Maryville was clutch at the free-throw line, hitting 11-of-12 (91.7 percent).
